The Girl with The Dragoon Tattoo (Movie Review)

In the last 3 decades, the world has witnessed the great work of art be it by painters, musicians, actors, artists and the focus of this post authors. We have had the opportunity of reading from masters such as John Grisham, Robert Ludlum, J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, James Patterson, Anne Rice, Isaac Aismov, Dan Brown e.t.c. Some of these writers have had some of their classics turned into motion pictures like the authors listed above like Harry Potter, The Bourne Trilogy, Percy Jackson to list but a few. 2011 was not going to be left out with novels being brought to the big screen with the release of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (original title in Swedish: Män som hatar kvinnor – “Men Who Hate Women”) is a crime novel by Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson. It is the first book in the trilogy known as the “Millennium series”.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo stars DANIEL CRAIG (our present James Bond) as Mikael Blomkvist, RONNEY MARA as Lisbeth Salander, CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER (this guy don tey… Since Sound of Music, he was Captain Von Trapp for those of you that watched Sound of Music *rme*) as Henrik Vanger, STELLAN SKARSGÅRD as Martin Vanger. David Fincher directed the movie; Steven Zaillian was responsible for screenplay while company credits go to Columbia Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), & Scott Rudin Productions.

The movie is set in Sweden where Mikael Blomkvist is a disgraced journalist who is then hired by Henrik Vagner to help in the search for a woman who has been missing for over 40 years and is assumed to be dead. Lisbeth Salander is the young computer hacker who aids Blomkvist in his search. As the search, both of them (Salander and Blomkvist) begin to unearth corruption in everywhere and nowhere.

The movie has a running time of a 158mins and within that time, Fincher delivers to us a wonderful novel on the big screen that keeps you guessing and wondering what happens the next second.

Rating: 7.9/10

Cinema Worthiness: If you are a fan of the thriller genre and loved thriller novels I’ll advice you to go see this movie. It’s worth the watch… 🙂

P.S This movie is a R-18 so don’t think of letting the kids see this one 😐

Mikael: What are you doing?

Salander: Reading your notes.

Mikael: They are encrypted.
