Movie Review: Man On A Ledge

YOU CAN ONLY PUSH AN INNOCENT MAN SO FAR.

That was the tagline on the poster of the movie “MAN ON A LEDGE”. Now as the typical Nigerian man I am, after looking at the poster and being the educated individual I am, 😀 I was wondering what the people at Hollywood wanted to portray in this movie where the character was standing on a ledge and I was wondering if the guy wants to experiment if he could be superman or Spiderman as those are the only people who can take such a risk and who’s innocence he wanted to prove as the tagline states. 😀

I digress… Man on a Ledge was released a day before my birthday /:) 27th of January, 2012. (For those of you who don’t know I came into this world on 28th January some years ago 😀 ). Pablo F. Fenjves wrote the movie, while Asger Leth was the Director of the movie.

Man on a Ledge stars SAM WORTHINGTON (guy who acted in Avatar and is Perseus in the Clash of the Titans and its sequel Wrath of the Titans) as Nick Cassidy, ELIZABETH BANKS (acted as Effie Trinket in Hunger Games) as Lydia Mercer, JAMIE BELL (voice casted as Tintin in The Adventures of Tintin) as Joey Cassidy, ANTHONY MACKIE (acted as Harry Mitchell in Adjustment Bureau)  as Mike Ackerman, GENESIS RODRIGUEZ as Angie, ED HARRIS (acted as Brigadier General Francis X. Hummel in The Rock)as David Englander.

The movie is about ex-cop Nick Cassidy who is convicted of stealing diamonds from real-estate boss David Englander. Cassidy breaks out of prison and climbs to the ledge of the 24th floor of the Roosevelt building threatening to jump over unless police psychologist Lydia Mercer is brought in. Mercer has a feeling that Nick does not want to jump and can’t shake the feeling something else is happening that Nick is quiet about. What could Nick be planning? Will he jump or not?

This are questions that plagued my mind as the movie went on trying to figure out what the writer and the director had hidden in their story. In the end I can only conclude that Leth and Fenjves did not disappoint. The actors played their roles well and the plot of the movie was a bit above average.

Rating: 6.5/10

Cinema Worthiness: Its worth watching and spending a couple of your hours to view.
