I can’t actually remember the first Judge Dredd movie that was acted by Sylvester Stallone but it seems it did not go down well with movie lovers back then in ’95. So having a reboot of the old movie would have left some viewers with skepticism. I present to you, DREDD 3D
Written by John Wagner, Carlos Ezquerra, Alex Garland, and directed by Pete Travis, Dredd 3D stars Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, Olivia Thirlby as Anderson , Rakie Ayola as Chief Judge, Lena Headey as Ma-Ma, Warrick Grier as Caleb and Wood Harris as Kay.
Set in the future where America is an irradiated waste land, on its east coast running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One – a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Dredd is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma and her ruthless clan. During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson, a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture – a 200 storey vertical slum controlled by Ma-Ma.
Dredd 3D is a violent, but wonderful movie and i enjoyed every minute of it. Karl Urban gives of a wonderfiul performance as Judge Dredd, showing what makes Dredd one of the best and ruthless judges in Mega City One. Olivia Thirbly also impresses as i liked her performance and the same can be said of Lena Headey (Leonidas’s wife in 300). Alex Garland gives the movie a wonderful plots and the movie never strays of the path it should tread.

Judge Dredd: You look ready.
Judge Dredd: Negotiation’s over. Sentence is death.
Cassandra Anderson: Sir, he’s thinking of making a move for your weapon.

Cassandra Anderson: He’s changed his mind.
Judge Dredd: Yeah.
Judge Dredd: Eight hundred million people living in the ruin of the old world, only one thing fighting for the order and the chaos, the men and women of the hall of justice, judges.
Judge Dredd: Was wondering when you realized you’d forgot your helmet…
Cassandra Anderson: It interferes with my psychic abilities…
Judge Dredd: [grunts] figured a bullet would do that.

Ma-Ma: A million?
