Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Quite an interesting question. It’s an IRON MAN 3 review. Let’s see if the review would help shed more light on the question, providing an answer.
Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black who is also involved in the screenplay alongside Drew Pearce, with Stan Lee, Don Heck, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby contributing to the screenplay from the comic book end. The movie casts Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as Colonel James Rhodes, Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, James Badge Dale as Savin, Stephanie Szostak as Brandt, Paul Bettany as voice of Jarvis, William Sadler as President Ellis, Miguel Ferrer as Vice President Rodriguez and Ty Simpkins as Harley Keener.
Iron Man 3 picks up from where The Avengers left off. Tony Stark is now high strung suffering from anxiety attacks due to the alien invasion in New York in Avengers. Enter the Mandarin who seeks to educate the American people with different terrorist attacks. Things go on to another level when Stark decides to take things personal, after the Mandarin comes after him. Will Stark be able to face the demons of his past and protect everything he holds dear?
First of all i must say the script of Iron Man 3 is cool as a lot of things became clearer. The cast, well we all know how Robert Downey Jr. has taken the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man and made it his. Nobody disappoints and i must make notable mentions concerning the performances of Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce. The director, Black, deserves credit for being able to piece character and story together excellently. The movie could have done well with some more CGI but hey i like what i saw and i enjoyed it. Remember the “Philanthropist, Playboy, Genius, Billionaire” quote from Avengers? Well look out for the Genius aspect for Sci-Fi lovers and nerds out there.
Iron Man 3 opened with the second-biggest debut of all time in the US at the weekend – a staggering $175.3m (£113m) – to become the year’s highest-grossing film so far. The figure is behind only The Avengers, its immediate predecessor in Marvel Studios’ ongoing series of superhero movies, which took $207.4m last year. However, Iron Man 3 also continued to fare superbly outside of the US, the world’s largest box office. It took another $175.9m across other markets in its second week of release, including an impressive $63.5m (£41m) in China, for a worldwide haul of $680.1m (£437m). (culled from The Guardian).
Go see this movie as i see it crossing the $1 billion mark. Talk about mining gold…
Cinema Worthiness: Great movie worth seeing. Grab that popcorn while at it. Had 2 while watching it 😀
Pepper Potts: Am I going to be alright?
Tony Stark/Iron Man: Baby, you’re in a relationship with me. Nothing is ever going to be alright.
Lt. Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes: So, this is what you’ve been doing with your down time, huh?
Tony Stark/Iron Man: Everyone needs a hobby.
Tony Stark/Iron Man: I’m Tony Stark. I build neat stuff. I got a great girl. And occasionally save the world. So why can’t I sleep?
Jarvis: Mark 42 inbound.
[Stark sees the Mark 42 armor flying toward the battlefield]
Tony Stark: The prodigal has returned.
[Stark summons Mark 42 to come to him, but it hits a pole and breaks into pieces]
Tony Stark: Whatever.
Mandarin’s Guard: [after Tony Stark incapacitates almost all Mandarin guards, the last one quickly surrenders] Don’t shoot! Seriously, I don’t even wanna work for them. They are so weird!
Tony Stark: You’re not a man. You’re nothing more than a maniac. I’m not afraid of you. No politics here: just good old fashioned revenge!
The Mandarin: Ladies, children, sheep… Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher. Lesson number one: Heroes, there is no such thing.
Tony Stark: I have a lot of apologies to make… Nothing’s been the same since New York. You experience things, and then they’re over. I can’t sleep, and when I do I have nightmares. Honestly, there’s a hundred people who want to kill me. I hope I can protect the one thing I can’t live without…
As for the question i asked at the beginning of this post, well go see the movie because i got my own answer. Lemme know what yours is. Enjoy the post and the movie from wherever you are. Cheers!
