[News] Edward James Olmos Joins Marvels Agent Of Shield

Edward James Olmos

Marvel.com has revealed that Battlestar Galactica star Edward James Olmos has joined the show in “a major recurring role.” Who is he playing, you ask?

Someone named Robert Gonzales, a character who, as far as we can tell, didn’t previously exist anywhere in the Marvel universe. Is this some sort of sneaky trick indicating that Olmos is actually playing someone that everyone knows and recognizes, ala Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness? Time will tell, but regardless of Olmos’ character’s name, he’s set to “have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.” Sounds ominous.

“Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales,” said Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice–including our favorite Agents.”

Agents of SHIELD returns on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9pm, taking back its time slot after the first season of Marvel’s Agent Carter comes to an end.
