Movie Review: Fast & Furious 6

Wow…

I love car racing games with Need for Speed: Most Wanted & Hot Pursuit as my favourites as both games give me quite the adrenaline rush. Anyways that’s me just digressing seeing as the Fast & Furious movies give me the same rush and the sixth installment did not fail. It’s a Fast & Furious 6 review.

Directed by Justin Lin, written by Chris Morgan & Gary Scott Thompson, Fast 6, stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Paul Walker as Brian O’Conner, Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs, Jordana Brewster as Mia, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty, Tyrese Gibson as Roman, Sung Kang as Han, Gal Gadot as Gisele, Ludacris as Tej & Luke Evans as Shaw.

Fast 6 is set after Dominic’s crew successful heist in Brazil in Fast 5, with the rest of the team scattered around the globe enjoying the bounty but not being able to go back home to the USA. Hobbs is tracking a mastermind who commands an organization of mercenary drivers across 12 countries and enlists the help of Dom and his crew to help take down the team with a full pardon as payment.

Fast 6 is utter brilliance and i must say i was happy with every moment when seeing the movie. The script for one was nicely written with a few questions answered as regards to the hidden scene in Fast 5. The action was way above average and enjoyable while the actors gave life to their character especially Tyerese Gibson making the lighter moments lighter and had us in the cinemas having a good laugh. There has been much talk about the movie breaking a few laws in physics but we must remember that this is a movie with the imaginations of the writers being spread out. The driving for one was awesome and the adrenaline rush was worth it. Fast 6 is one of the better movies of 2013.

Rating: 7.8/10

Cinema Worthiness: Movie was worth seeing and every second was enjoyable.

Quotes

Dominic Toretto: You’ve got the best crew in the world standing right in front of you, give them a reason to stay.

Dominic Toretto: I’ve been told.
Letty Ortiz: You know you’re lucky I missed my shot.
Dominic Toretto: I think you hit your mark.
Letty Ortiz: Really… what is it with you? What, have you got a death wish or something?
Dominic Toretto: If that’s what it takes. I just wanna race.
Letty Ortiz: Might lose your car.
Dominic Toretto: Let’s do it.
Letty Ortiz: Your funeral.
Dominic Toretto: Ride or die, remember?

Tej Parker: You’ve gone from Shaggy to Scooby. This is something we don’t doooo.

Dominic Toretto: Not bad for a cop.
Hobbs: I never thought I’d trust a criminal. Till next time.
Dominic Toretto: Till next time.

Roman: Somebody do something! I’ve got a tank on my ass!

[Roman asks Tej for change to use the vending machine]
Tej Parker: You’re a millionaire and still asking for money?
Roman: That’s how you stay a millionaire.

[Roman is trying to figure out the amount on his coins for the vending machine]
Roman: Hey, uh, which one of these is like a dollar?
[Hobbs shoots the vending machine]
Hobbs: It’s on the house.

Tej Parker: Uh, guys, they got a tank!

Tej Parker: It’s all between you and the car you build it’s a bond, it’s a commitment.
Hobbs: Sounds like a marriage.
Tej Parker: Yeah, but with cars when you trade up they don’t take half your shit.

Roman: Father thank you for the gathering of friends, Father we give thanks for all the choices we’ve made because that’s what makes us who we are, let us forever cherish the loved ones we’ve lost along the way; thank you for the little angel, the newest addition to our family, thank you for bringing Letty home, and most of all thank you for fast cars!
